GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE + NO SURPRISES ACT

Under the federal No Surprises Act, individuals who do not have health insurance or who choose not to use their health insurance to pay for healthcare services generally have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of scheduled services.

When applicable, Post Storm Therapy will provide uninsured or self-pay clients with a Good Faith Estimate as required by federal law.

A Good Faith Estimate includes the expected charges for the healthcare services reasonably anticipated at the time the estimate is prepared.

Because psychotherapy is individualized, it may not always be possible to know in advance how many sessions you will ultimately choose or need. Your Good Faith Estimate therefore reflects anticipated charges based on the information available at the time and is not a contract or guarantee regarding the total length or cost of treatment.

CMS states that uninsured or self-pay patients who schedule qualifying care at least three business days in advance generally have a right to receive a Good Faith Estimate. Patients may also request an estimate before scheduling care.

If Your Bill Is Higher Than Your Good Faith Estimate

If you receive a bill from a provider that is at least $400 more than the expected charges listed on that provider's Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to use the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.

An independent third party reviews eligible disputes and determines the appropriate payment amount.

Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate and any bills you receive.

For additional information about Good Faith Estimates, the No Surprises Act, and your federal medical billing rights, visit:

Established clients should follow the communication procedures provided as part of their clinical intake and practice policies.

SOCIAL MEDIA DISCLAIMER

If Post Storm Therapy maintains social media accounts, information shared through those accounts is intended for general educational and informational purposes only.

For privacy reasons, Post Storm Therapy may not be able to acknowledge current or former clients publicly or interact with clients through social media in ways that could reveal a therapeutic relationship.

Please do not use social media comments or direct messages for emergencies, urgent clinical matters, or confidential clinical communication.
